DES. #: 0201362
PROJ #: STP-0123(021)
LEGAL NOTICE
OF
PUBLIC HEARING
The Indiana Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing on
Wednesday, April 13, 2005, (at 6:00pm) in the Mitchell Auditorium at the
University of Southern Indiana at Evansville, Indiana.
The purpose of the public hearing is to offer all interested persons an
opportunity to comment on the Environmental Assessment for the proposed
reconstruction and added travel lanes to State Road 62 (SR 62) (Lloyd
Expressway) from Eickhoff Road to 1st Avenue. The project is located in the city
of Evansville in Vanderburgh County. The total project length is about 6 miles.
The improvements to SR 62 are proposed to add a third through lane in each
direction from Eickhoff Road to just west of the Baker Avenue overpass. These
improvements would change SR 62 into a partially controlled access freeway.
Access to SR 62 would be limited to interchanges. Traffic signals on SR 62 would
be eliminated. Local access roads would be needed for properties along SR 62
that would no longer have direct access.
Construction of the project will require approximately 25 acres of new permanent
right-of-way. This project is expected to displace 28 residences, 19 businesses
and one storage building.
A public statement session will be offered after the presentation. Individuals
interested in participating in the public statement session may sign the
speaker’s schedule prior to the presentation. All comments collected before,
during and for a period of two (2) weeks after the hearing will be evaluated and
addressed.
In accordance with the “Americans With Disabilities Act”, if you have a
disability for which the Indiana Department of Transportation needs to provide
accommodations, please call the Public Hearings office at (317) 232-6601, by
Thursday, April 7, 2005.
This is the final opportunity to comment on the “adverse effect” finding for
this project. “Per the National Historic Preservation Act, the views of the
public are being sought regarding the effect of the proposed project on the Orr
Iron Company Building (per 36CFR800.2(d), 800.3(e), and 800.6(a)(4)). “Pursuant
to 36CFR800.6(a)(4), the documentation specified in 36CFR800.11(e) and the draft
Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) are available for inspection in the INDOT Division
of Environment, Planning and Engineering Office in Indianapolis. This
documentation serves as the basis for the “adverse effect” finding. The views of
the public on resolving adverse effects of the undertaking and the mitigation
included in the draft MOA are being sought.”
