General Meeting

Master Gardeners Present: Pete Frederick, Kay Haller, Grant Hartman,
David Hames, Ernie Hicks. Debbie Jacobs, Bill Jeffers (yes, our Bill Jeffers),
Kay ?
Program: at 7:05 p.m., representatives of the Evansville Master Gardeners
presented a program on “Soil to Harvest,” the story of why, where, when, and how
to garden.
Call to Order: President DeAnna Outlaw called the meeting to order at
8:45 p.m.
Secretary’s Report: March general meeting minutes were approved on a
motion by Bonnie Kolb and a second by Ava Nix.
Treasurer’s Report: Fred Padget gave the report including information
about the Litter Patrol grant.
Committee Reports:

Adopt-a-Spot: Dot Berning would like to start shopping for
benches for the Spot. Seven individuals gathered yesterday to plant the
garden. The recommendation is for recycled plastic benches rooted in
concrete. There was further discussion of the need for the city to make
water available for the spot.

Environment: In the absence of Dave Rockwood, Padget
reported that the clean-up day was successful.

Newsletter: Mel Runge said he can always use submissions and
asked they be sent to him before the end of the month.

West Sector Police: Ava Nix reported the crime rate is up
and the upcoming Memorial Day weekend is expected to be a bad one due to the
coincidence with the end of school.

Land Use:

Padget reported the Majestic Place proposal is likely to
be scaled back quite a bit. They may try to partner with a residential
developer for part of the area. It will go back to APC sometime this
summer.

The Korner owners are looking for a rezoning from C2 to
C4 to make the property more saleable.

Nix asked about the property at end of Jobes Lane which
Dan Buck has proposed to develop. Nothing is going on and the erosion is
becoming a large problem. Bill Jeffers reported that he and Mike Wathen
are working on getting Buck to remediate the situation.

Fall Festival: Outlaw discussed last year’s remodeling and
promised a little more for this year.

Announcement: The Hilltop Neighborhood Association is having its annual
rummage sale on June 6.
