General Membership Meeting

President Fred Padget called the meeting to order at 7:20 p.m.
Secretary’s Report: Padget thanked Dot Berning for acting as secretary for the
February 2004 general meeting. Minutes could not be approved as a quorum was not
present.
Treasurer’s Report: Bernice Sensmeier presented the treasurer's report.
Neighborhood Association Reports:

Berning reported that the Mt. Auburn Association continues to
investigate city sewers for Mt. Auburn. Meetings have been scheduled with city
officials to pursue the matter.

Shirley James reported on the proposed basketball
facility in the 11th Avenue/Maryland Street area, which is in the territory
covered by the newly-formed Lamasco Neighborhood Association. There is a
possibility it will be located near the skateboard park.
President’s Report:
-
Several public meetings are being held to review the new
Comprehensive Plan, the next scheduled for May 27,
6:30 p.m., at the Red Cross headquarters building at Stockwell Road and Lloyd
Expressway.

The City/County Unification Study continues with a public
input meeting scheduled for June 23, 7 p.m. at the Centre.

WIA’s first ever membership picnic will be held on Saturday,
August 14, at Burdette Park Shelterhouse # 16. Activities begin at 11 a.m.
with lunch at noon. Reservations are required by August 1 for the meal, which
is free to attendees.

Candidates’ Night will be Tuesday, September 14, at St. Paul’s
Church.
Committee Reports:

Parks – Shirley James reported the section of the Greenway
Passage now open along the river is attracting far more users than
anticipated. The Greenway’s evening on the river was very successful, raising
about $10,000 for the Greenway Endowment

Pollution & Conservation – Trena Roedel reported that the
proposed park on land being donated by Dennis Owen is now projected to be
larger than originally planned. The committee is working with the James in her
roles with the Parks Committee and the Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage, the Four
Rivers Conservation Trust, and the Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve.

Land Use – Padget reported that Kohl’s is expected to open in
the Carpentier Creek Pavilion in spring 2005.
Program:
Developer Dennis Owens, and associates John Kipling and Bart Mueller presented
extensive information about the Carpentier Creek Pavilion development. Diagrams
of improvements to Carpentier Creek were presented and a question/answer session
conducted.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 9:14 p.m.
