The 2009 Westside Improvement Association annual banquet and general meeting was held on Friday, November 13, at the University of Southern Indiana.  The speaker for the evening was USI's recently inaugurated president, Dr. Linda L. M. Bennett.  Awards of Excellence were presented to the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department for its long history of public service; to the staff of United Neighborhoods of Evansville (UNOE) for their outstanding assistance to WIA; and to Ann Ennis of Keep Evansville Beautiful for her efforts to beautify and preserve our environment.  A special "Pick of the Litter" award was given to Evie, the litter-retrieving dog and her "parents", Steve and Susan Harp.

At the request of the high school counselors, our scholarship process has been moved to the spring semester.  Scholarships will be awarded at the spring general meeting.

Election of officers and the board of directors for 2010 was held.  The officers are:

  •  Secretary: Linda Cleek
  •  Treasurer: Fred Padget
