PUBLIC NOTICE CONCERNING RE-ACCREDITATION OF THE EVANSVILLE
POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Evansville Police Department is scheduled for an on site assessment as
part of a program to achieve re accreditation by verifying it meets professional
standards.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies,
Inc., the program requires agencies to meet state of the art standards in four
basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support
services.
As a part of the on site assessment, employees of the department and members of
the community are invited to offer comments at a public information, session on
Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at 7 p.m. The session will be conducted in the City
Council Chambers located in Room 301 of the Civic Center.
Employees of the police department and the public are also invited to offer
comments by calling 436 7891 on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 between the hours of
1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The Assessment Team will take comments.
Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the public information session,
are limited to ten (10) minutes and must address the police department's ability
to comply with the Commission's standards. A copy of the standards is available
in the Office of the Chief of Police of the Evansville Police Department, Room

Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Evansville Police
Department's ability to comply with the standards for Accreditation may send
