CITY TO HOST CONFERENCE The City of Evansville will host this years Regional Neighborhood Network Conference (RNNC) on October 9, 10 and 11 at the Executive Inn. The RNNC was organized in 1987 by several Midwestern cities to provide an educational forum for neighborhoods encountering similar problems and issues. The collaboration of these neighborhoods allow leaders to share ideas, experiences and possible solutions. This annual conference will provide informative workshops and
training sessions, inspirational “keynote” speakers, and experienced presenters
from the membership cities including Evansville. The comprehensive event will
target all audiences and provides an excellent opportunity to meet and network
with other neighborhood representatives from around the region. Peoria, Illinois, held the 2001 conference while the 2002
conference was hosted by Fort Wayne, Indiana. This will be the first time for
Evansville to host the conference and attendance is expected to be 400 to 500
persons. Registration fee for the conference is $99.00.
In order to have a successful event, it is expected that about 115 volunteers will be needed. The first three Westside Improvement Association members willing to volunteer for 12 hours during the conference will receive a free registration and be eligible to participate in those events requiring registration. Any one able to volunteer for three or more hours will receive a conference T-shirt. Although this occurs during the Westside Nut Club Fall Festival and the WIA will be looking for volunteers to work in our food booth, I would encourage you to consider volunteering some time to this conference if you can do so. If you are interested in committing some time to the conference, call Fred Padget at 428-2529 or e-mail fcpadget@aol.com before May 15. You can also call the United Neighborhoods Of Evansville office at 428-4243 or e-mail them at unoe1@msn.com. We hope the City of Evansville has a very successful conference
and that many, many RNNC members get to see the great city and area which we are
proud to call home. |
